ERIE, Pa. – Penn State Behrend men's tennis junior Mitchell May (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek) has been named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Athlete of the Week, announced on Monday.
May went undefeated in two matches for the Lions this weekend. He posted a 2-0 singles record at the No. 2 spot and then recorded a win at No. 1 doubles against Westminster. In the first match on Saturday against Alfred, May used a 6-0, 6-1 decision over David Lingenfelter before winning in a tiebreaker set in singles against Jimmy Oberlin of Westminster (2-6, 6-4, 10-2).
May is tied for first on the team with six singles wins and has won four in a row. He also leads doubles play with a 6-2 record.
The Lions are back in action on Monday, March 7 against Gordon and Messiah in Hilton Head, South Carolina over spring break.
