Behrend Tennis Faces Medaille in AMCC Semifinals

ERIE, Pa. – The No. 2 Penn State Behrend men's tennis team will face the No. 3 Medaille Mavericks in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Tournament Semifinals on Saturday at 6 p.m. at Westwood Racquet Club.

Penn State Behrend News & Notes:

* The Lions enter the championship as the No. 2 seed after posting a 4-1 conference record
* There was a three-way tie for first place in the AMCC with Altoona, Behrend and Medaille
* The tiebreaker was broken by match points on (PSA 10, BEH 9, MED 8)
* Behrend will be competing for its seventh AMCC Championship
* The Lions last won the AMCC Title back in 2012
* The winner of the semifinals will advance to the championship match slated for Sunday, April 24 at 1:30 p.m.
* The champion will earn the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament
* During the regular season, Jonathan Laier (Lansing, MI/Holt) had 11 wins at the No. 1 singles spot
* Laier, Mitchell May (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek) and Max Lu (Plum, PA/Plum) all posted a 4-1 record in AMCC play
* Laier at No. 1, May at No. 2 and Lu at No. 4 singles

* The Mavericks finished with a 4-1 AMCC mark
* Medaille handed the Lions their only conference loss this season, 5-4
* The Mavericks enter with a two-match winning streak
* Freshman Ben Tubbs led the Mavs with a perfect 5-0 in singles, with three of those wins coming at the No. 5 spot
* Pablo de Ramon Boceta went 2-0 at No. 1 singles for Medaille in AMCC action
