Behrend Men's Volleyball Earns NCAA Statistical Champion Award

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's volleyball team will receive the statistical champion award for finishing the season with the most digs per set in all of Division III.

The Lions led in this category throughout the season, playing in 102 sets and recording 1,302 digs for 12.76 per set. Behrend edged Lehman for the title by .70 digs per set, followed by Geneva in third (11.89). The Lions also ranked fifth in team attacks per set (29.73), 11th in opponent hitting percentage (.144) and 13th in kills per set (12.18).

Junior libero Adrian Martinez (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Wesleyan Academy) finished second overall in the individual statistics in digs per set. Martinez led the team with 330 digs in 102 sets for a 3.24 average, falling short of first by .03 digs per set.

As a team, Behrend tallied nine matches with 50 or more digs including a season-best 86 against the Golden Tornadoes.
