Behrend Men's Volleyball Announces Team Awards

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's volleyball program announced the team awards for the 2024 season.

Alex Jackson (Cochranton, PA/Cochranton) was named Most Valuable Player, while Daniel Easly (Erie, PA/McDowell) was tabbed Most Improved Player. Rookie of the Year went to Josh Wingenbach (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst Prep) and Owen Wienczkowski (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) earned the Leadership Award. Joshua Elegeer (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) rounded out the awards being named to the All-Sportsmanship Team, announced by the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC).  

Jackson, an All-AMCC selection, handed out 661 assists in 27 matches, averaging 7.78 assists per set . He also tallied two double-doubles, posting a career-high 54 assists to go with 13 digs in the AMCC semifinals. He added 126 digs, 79 kills and 24 service aces. He was named to the AMCC All-Tournament Team for the second straight year and reached 2,000 career assists on March 23 vs. St. Vincent. Jackson finishes his career second in the Behrend record books with 2,195 assists.

Easly was the only player to compete in all 28 matches this season. The sophomore ranked fourth on the team in kills (150), sixth in digs (109), seventh in blocks (18) and service aces (12). Easly had five matches with double-digit kills, including a career-high 18 kills and 10 digs in the AMCC semifinals.

Wingenbach, a defensive specialist, saw time in seven matches and posted five digs with two assists.

Wienczkowski completes his four years with 585 kills, 231 blocks and 108 digs. He ranks fourth in career blocks and is eighth in career kills. Wienczkowski was co-captain this season with Jackson.

Elegeer is a three-time All-Sportsmanship Award winner with the Lions. He is voted by his teammates for displaying good sportsmanship throughout the season. Elegeer consistently demonstrated a high level of ethical conduct, respect and fair play in both practice and competition, whether on the sidelines or as an active competitor. The senior tallied 205 digs this season to finish with 386 for his career.
