Behrend Softball Hosts AMCC Championships This Weekend

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend softball team earned the No. 1 seed and hosting rights for the 2022 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championships this weekend, beginning Friday, May 6.

The Lions (20-13), the defending AMCC Champions, will be making their 21st appearance in the tournament. Behrend was named the regular-season champions with a 14-2 conference mark to secure home-field advantage for the championships.

The Lions received a bye and will face the winner of No. 4 Medaille vs. No. 5 Pitt-Bradford/La Roche/Alfred State at approximately 4 p.m. on Friday afternoon. The first game will feature No. 3 Mt. Aloysius and No. 6 Pitt-Bradford/La Roche/Alfred State at 10 a.m. The winner of the first game takes on No. 2 Penn State Altoona in the third game of the day.

The double-elimination tournament continues with five games on Saturday and a possible two games on Sunday if necessary. The champion will receive the AMCC's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

Behrend, who is going for its ninth conference championship, enters the tournament winning 10 of its last 12 games.
