McNany, Schmidt Named AMCC Players of the Year; Eight Selected All-Conference

ERIE, Pa. – Cami McNany (Emlenton, PA/Allegheny-Clarion Valley) and Ashleigh Schmidt (Sarver, PA/Freeport) were chosen the 2022 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Pitcher and Player of the Year, respectively. The Lions also had eight named to the All-Conference Team. 

McNany and Schmidt are earning their first Player of the Year honors, while landing on the first team along with Maria Jones (Wilcox, PA/Johnsonburg) and Jocelyn McNany (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley). Samantha Manioci (Rochester, NY/Odyssey Academy) and Kayla Salvini (McDonald, PA/Fort Cherry) were selected to the second team. Kayla Lindberg (Austinburg, OH/Geneva) and Kylee Bundy (DuBois, PA/DuBois Area) were chosen to the third team. 

C. McNany led the conference with 29 hits, 24 RBIs and eight doubles, while ranking second with a .509 batting average at the catcher position. Overall, she leads the team with 44 hits, 41 RBIs, 11 doubles and a .400 batting average. McNany had 12 multiple-hit games in conference play, registering at least a hit in 16 regular-season games. She registered multiple RBIs in seven AMCC games. Defensively, she has a .958 fielding percentage with 61 putouts in 72 chances with eight assists.

Schmidt, the Preseason Pitcher of the Year, ranked second in the AMCC with a 1.25 ERA and 49 strikeouts. She fanned a season-best 11 batters against Medaille. Schmidt is tied for first with six wins in conference games (6-1). She posted five shutout victories in seven appearances. Schmidt only gave up eight earned runs total in 44.2 innings pitched. Overall, she currently leads the team with an 11-4 record in 11 complete games for a 2.33 ERA. Schmidt picked up a pair of wins in the AMCC Tournament, striking out 13 and allowing nine hits and two runs.

Jones led the conference with 24 runs in 16 contests as an outfielder. She boasted a .528 slugging percentage with 18 hits and 12 RBIs. Jones had seven extra-base hits, five doubles, one triple and a home run. She also stole five bases. Overall, Jones leads the team with 38 runs and is second with 40 hits and third with eight doubles. She has 10 stolen bases and 20 RBIs for a .351 batting average.

J. McNany, the designated player, ranked second in conference games with 17 RBIs on 20 hits. She was fourth in runs scored with 19 and first with three home runs in 51 at-bats. Overall, she is second on the team in RBIs (28), doubles (9) and a .365 batting average, and is third with 38 hits. McNany had six multiple-hit games in conference play.

Manioci had a .986 fielding percentage with 73 putouts with one error, while turning one double play in AMCC action at the first-base position. She had 16 hits, eight RBIs, two doubles and a triple in 16 conference games. Manioci's best performance was a 5-for-5 showing with four RBIs against Mt. Aloysius. Overall, she is fifth on the team with 28 hits and 14 RBIs.

Salvini started all but one conference game at shortstop, recording 16 hits and 10 RBIs for a .400 batting average. She has registered five extra-base hits and had a hit or more in 11 conference games. Overall, Salvini has recorded 20 hits, 13 runs and 13 RBIs in 27 games played.

Lindberg was tied for second in the AMCC with six wins (6-1). She ranked fourth with a 1.75 ERA, only allowing 10 earned runs in eight appearances. Lindberg completed five games and had two shut-out victories. She has struck out 28 batters, good enough for seventh in the AMCC. Overall, she started nine games and has an 8-4 record to go with 44 K's. She is second on the team with a 2.46 ERA.

Bundy was tied for fifth in conference games with 15 RBIs. She had 17 hits and scored 14 runs in 16 games. Bundy ripped four doubles and posted a .354 average in 16 AMCC contests. She is one of three players to compete in all 36 games for the Lions. Overall, she is fourth on the team with 31 hits and 19 RBIs. Bundy leads the team with 54 assists on 141 total chances to go with 79 putouts from second base.
