Behrend Softball Poised to Compete for AMCC Title

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend softball team earned the No. 1 seed and hosting rights for the 2024 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championships this weekend, beginning Thursday, May 9.

The Lions (30-8), the 2023 AMCC Runners Up, will be making their 23rd appearance in the tournament. Behrend was named the Regular-Season Champions for a fourth straight year with an undefeated conference mark at 18-0 to secure home-field advantage for the championships. It marks the first undefeated AMCC season for the Lions since 2009.

Behrend received a first-round bye and will face the winner of No. 4 Penn State Altoona vs. No. 5 Pitt-Greensburg at approximately 4 p.m. on Thursday afternoon. The first game will feature No. 3 Mt. Aloysius and No. 6 Hilbert at 10 a.m. The winner of the first game takes on No. 2 Pitt-Bradford in the third game of the day.

The double-elimination tournament continues with five games on Friday and a possible two games on Saturday if necessary. The champion will receive the AMCC's automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

The Lions are going for their 11th overall conference championship. The Lions last won the championship in 2022.
