The Behrend Lions (2-2, 1-0) and Mounties ran up and down the Junker court throughout Wednesday night's AMCC opener.

Behrend's defensive work forced 18 Mt. Aloysius turnovers that led to lay-ups as the blue and white entered the break with a 48-38 lead. Behrend then pulled away in the second half for a 93-67 win.

Both teams shot the ball well during the first half with Behrend connecting on 13-of-16 (81%) from the charity-stripe, while the Mounties stayed in the game by making 53% (19 of 36) of their floor attempts.

Sophomore guard Amy Oldach (Erie, Pa./Villa Maria Academy), the Behrend Lions Athlete of the Week, was all over the floor for the blue and white. Oldach grabbed six rebounds, passed out four assists, made three steals and scored a pair of buckets during the first half. Natalie Engel (McDonald, Pa./Fort Cherry) hit for a team-high 12 first half points, while Kelly Nowacinski (Erie, Pa./Mercyhurst Prep) and Rachel Richardson (Moon Township, Pa./Moon Area) scored 11 apiece.

For the game, Behrend was led by Richardson's 24, and Engel's 20. Mt. Aloysius (0-4, 0-2) was led by Lindsey Bush's 22 points.

The blue and white will be on the road this Saturday, December 6. Behrend travels to Frostburg State to play at 1:00 p.m. Last year Behrend swept the Bobcats, winning at home by 17 and claiming a 21 point victory in Maryland.
