Behrend Women's Tennis Announces Award Winners for 2009

The Penn State Behrend women's tennis team recently announced its team award winners for the 2009 season.  The Behrend women's tennis team award winners are chosen by a vote of team members.

Sophomore Arica Christman (Sharon/Sharon) was voted on as the program's MVP for the 2009 season.  Christman continued her dominance on th court taking home the AMCC Player of the Year honors for the second straight season.  Christman was #1 in singles play at the AMCC Championships.

Ashley Brem (Kersey/St. Marys) was honored as the program's Most Improved Player.  Brem continued to play well for the Behrend Lions all year long and was determined to get better each and every day.

Rookie of the Year honors went to Mareesa Schepis (Moon Township/Moon).  Schepis stepped into her first year in the program and performed great throughout the season.  Schepis was a key factor in doubles and put up key victories for the blue and white.

The Leadership/Scholorship award winner went to senior Karen Hobaugh (Kutztown/Kutztown).  Hobaugh was a role model for her fellow teammates and she was leader out on the court.  She took home First Team All-Conference honors in 2009 that capped off a great career.

Leslie Durante (Fairview/Fairview) was picked as the team's representative for the AMCC All-Sportsmanship team.  Durante took home honors as First Team All-Conference in singles and doubles this season and was a leader on the court.
