On Wednesday, October 7, the Penn State Behrend Lions defeated the D'Youville Spartans in an AMCC women's tennis match by a score of 9-0. Behrend improves to 11-4 overall and 7-1 in league play.

Penn State Behrend's Arica Christman (Sharon/Sharon) won her tope singles match by scores of 6-1, 6-0. Stephanie Cattron (Greenville/Commodore Perry) also won her match by scores of 6-0, 6-2.

Allison Quigley (Gibsonia/Hampton) and Jade Buhite (North Kingsville/Edgewood) won in tope seeded double by score of 8-4.

The Behrend Lions have won nine of ten matches and used today's match to gear up for a critical pair of road matches at Frostburg (10-2, 7-0) and Penn State Altoona (5-3, 5-3). Behrend is at FSU on Friday and plays at Altoona on Saturday before beginning pursuit of its fifth straight league title in the AMCC Championships in Wexford, PA, at the Oxford Athletic Club on October 17 and 18.

Behrend has captured seven of the past ten AMCC titles under 2008 AMCC Coach of the Year, Jeff Barger. Last season, the blue and white cruised to a perfect 8-0 mark against the league and tallied a 14-3 overall mark, tying for the fourth most wins in program history.  Behrend has rolled to four straight AMCC regular season and conference tournament titles, while posting a 54-8 overall mark in AMCC games, since the league's creation in 1997.
