Penn State Behrend Women's Tennis Wins 2009 AMCC Championship!

The Penn State Behrend women's tennis program captured the 2009 AMCC Championship on October 18.

This year's title marked the fifth in a row for the blue and white and Head Coach Jeff Barger, while earning its ninth overall in twelve years of AMCC tennis. The league began play in 1997.

On day one, the Behrend Lions swept the individual singles titles by winning all six flights, but tied with nine points with Frostburg State and Penn State Altoona. Then on the second day Behrend's doubles tandem of junior Hillary Lasher (Lakewood, NY/Southwestern) and sophomore Leslie Durante (Fairview, PA/Fairview) claimed the second doubles title to earn the 2009 AMCC Championship.

The scoring breakdown of the championship was Penn State Behrend in first with 25 points, Frostburg posted 19, Penn State Altoona logged 10, Pitt-Bradford had five points and La Roche had four.

Arica Christman (#1 singles), Stephanie Cattron (#2 singles), Hillary Lasher (#3 singles, #2 doubles), Christy Calvert (#4 singles), Leslie Durante (#5 singles, #2 doubles), and Karen Hobaugh (#6 singles) were champions for Behrend.
