Lions Compete for Sixth Straight AMCC Title This Weekend

ERIE, Pa. – The Behrend women’s tennis team will travel to the Oxford Athletic Club in Wexford, Pa. to compete for their sixth straight Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championship this weekend. Play begins Saturday at 2 p.m. and ends on Sunday at 4 p.m.

The Lion return to the conference championship following another accomplished regular season. After dropping only four matches this season, Behrend enters the AMCC Tournament with a 12-4 overall record and an unblemished conference mark at 8-0.

The Lions will look to two-time AMCC Player of the Year Arica Christman to lead the way. She holds a 15-4 record this season and an 8-0 record in conference action. Last year, Christman defeated Elly Dannenfelser, of Frostburg State, 6-3 and 6-2 in the final round of the AMCC championship game.

Stephanie Cattron will be playing at second singles, while Hillary Lasher and Leslie Durante are competing at third and fourth, respectively. At fifth singles is Allison Quigley and the final spot belongs to Jade Buhite. All six players will also be competing in doubles action.
