Women's Tennis Wins Third Straight

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women’s tennis team increased its winning streak to three straight matches to start the season by defeating Fredonia 7-2 in non-conference action on breezy Wednesday afternoon.

It was a clean sweep in the doubles matches with identical scores in all three sets, 8-3. The No. 1 singles team of juniors Arica Christman and Stephanie Cattron defeated Anna Norris and Ali Phillips, before Hillary Lasher and Leslie Durante joined forces for the first time this season to collect the win at No. 2. Allison Quigley and Jade Buhite helped the Lions take a 3-0 heading into the singles competition.

Behrend quickly secured the win with three victories in singles action. Christman continued her impressive play of dusting her opponent 6-1, 6-1 en route to her third consecutive victory at No. 1. At second singles, Cattron was successful with a 6-1, 6-4 decision.

Lasher and Quigley were just two of four double winners on the day. Lasher picked up a 6-2 and close 7-6 win at No. 3 and Quigley wrapped up a quick decision at 6-1, 6-3 at the fourth sport.

The Lions return to action on Friday when host their third straight home match, facing non-conference opponent Alfred at 3:30 p.m.
