Another Shut Out for Women's Tennis

Erie, Pa.- The Penn State Behrend women’s tennis program shut out visiting conference foe, Pitt-Greensburg 6-0 on singles and 3-0 in doubles action Tuesday.

The Lions (8-2) were lead by No.1 Arica Christman going head-to-head against the Bobcats (2-4) Stefanie Chaffee, Christman only needing two sets, won both 6-0. In the No. 2, 3 and 4 spots for the women were Steph Cattron, Hillary Lasher and Leslie Durante who all posted identical scores and won in back-to-back sets 6-0, 6-0.

Top doubles action was played by Behrend’s Elissa Swartz and Megan Flinchbaugh who took the court against Greensburg’s Stephanie Chaffee and Katie Izzo. Swartz and Flinchbaugh would go on to win 8-0. No. 2 Megan Noschese and Rachel Harris and No. 3 doubles Courtney Boyle and Emily Phinney would also win easily 8-0, and 8-3 respectively.

The Lions will return to the court Friday September 24, to host Penn State Altoona at 4 p.m.
