Durante Makes Difference in Win Over Westminster

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. – Leslie Durante posted a come-from-behind victory in a third tiebreaker set over Rachel Jack to help the Behrend women’s tennis team defeat Westminster 5-4 in non-conference action on Friday.

After winning two out of the three doubles matches, the Lions (11-3) split the singles competition to narrowly defeat the Titans. Durante and Hillary Lasher were the double winners on the afternoon.

With the match tied at 4-all, Durante won her second set 7-6 (7-4) after being down 6-2 and then tallied a 10-5 victory to give Behrend its 11th win of the season. Earlier on the day, she joined Lasher for an 8-5 win at No. 2 doubles. Jade Buhite and Allison Quigley were the other doubles couple who picked up a 9-8 (7-4) victory, taking Lauren Latinovich and Jane Larson to a tiebreaker set.

The No. 1 singles match belonged to Arica Christman with a convincing 6-1, 6-1 decision and Lasher won 6-1, 6-0 at second singles.

The Lions return to action tomorrow against Waynesburg. Match time is 10 a.m.
