Women's Tennis All-AMCC Team Announced; Sharma Named Newcomer of the Year

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's tennis team had six players named to the 2023 All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Team, while Tamanna Sharma (Brampton, Canada/Fletcher's Meadow Secondary School) was voted Newcomer of the Year.

Sharma was also selected to the All-AMCC first team at No. 2 singles and second team at No. 2 doubles. Erica Jasinski (Fairview, PA/Fairview), Jayna Baer (Pittsburgh, PA/Moon), and Lindsey Kerlin (Clearfield, PA/Clearfield) were honored for both singles and doubles action. Rachel Fleming (St. Marys, PA/St. Marys) and Keri Saulino (Bethlehem, PA//Freedom) landed on the second team in singles play.

Sharma completed her first season with the Lions undefeated at 5-0 in the No. 2 singles position. All five wins were in AMCC contests. Sharma posted a 5-2 doubles mark at No. 2, including a 2-2 record with Baer for second-team honors.

Jasinski is making her fourth appearance on the All-AMCC second team at No. 1 doubles. She also earned second-team accolades at No. 1 singles for the third straight season. Jasinski led Behrend with a 7-2 overall record in the top position, while going 4-1 in AMCC play. Jasinski and Kerlin teamed up for a 9-2 record at No. 1 doubles and a 4-2 mark in conference play to land on the second team.

In addition to doubles, Kerlin and Baer received second-team honors at No. 3 and No. 4 singles, respectively. Kerlin and Baer each went 4-1 in conference play. Kerlin finished 7-3 overall and Baer finished 7-4.

Fleming and Saulino round out the second-team honors. Saulino was the second player this season to go undefeated in singles action at No. 6. Saulino went 5-0 and Fleming earned a 4-1 conference mark in the fifth spot. Saulino posted a 7-1 record in her last eight matches to go 8-2 overall and Fleming finished 8-4 in singles competition.
