ERIE, Pa. – Seven Penn State Behrend student-athletes have been selected as Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Athletes of the Week for the week of November 27-December 3.

Sophomore swimmer Jadyn Danylko (Erie, PA/McDowell) earned Women's Swimmer of the Week honors after winning the 50 and 100 butterfly in 28.69 and 1:03.43, respectively, and being on both winning relays (200 Medley Relay/200 Free) at Penn State Altoona.

This past weekend fellow Behrend swimmer Dan Tanaskovic (Aliquippa, PA/Central Valley) won the freestyle sprint events, claiming the 50 free (22.10) and the 100 free (49.70) while swimming on two winning relays (200 medley, 200 free relays) to secure Men's Swimmer of the Week and help lead the Lions past Altoona.

On the diving board, Jacob Earley (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek) was the runner-up in both the 1-and 3-meter dives with scores of 303.95 and 338.90 to notch Men's Diver of the Week.

Indoor track & field swept the weekly runner and field athlete awards to begin the season this past week.

Ivy Laffan (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) was named Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week, registering a top finish for the Lions in the 600m with a time of 1:44.52 and was also a member of the 4x4 relay team that placed second with a time of 4:32.91 at the Houghton December Classic.


Teammate Madison Kappeler (Cecil, PA/Canon-McMillan) delivered a third-place finish in the pole vault with a score of 10-2 to record Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week, while also being a part of the 4x4 relay team this past Friday.

On the men's side, Ryan Festa (Horsham, PA/Hatboro-Horsham) was named Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week with a new personal best in the pole vault and an AARTFC qualifying mark of 15-3 for a runner-up finish.

In his first collegiate meet, freshman Jake Egizio (Canonsburg, PA/Canon-McMillan) notched Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week with a third-place finish in the 200m final with a time of 23.04, while also running on the 4x4 relay team that placed seventh (3:41.26).

The indoor track & field teams return to action this weekend at Mount Union, while swimming and diving will be back in the pool on Saturday, Jan. 13.
