Junior Brooke Gallentine (Mt. Pleasant, PA/Southmoreland) was named the AMCC and ECAC Southern Region volleyball player of the week.
Gallentine closed the regular season with two big conference performances in wins over Pitt-Bradford and Penn St. Altoona to clinch the AMCC regular season championship and a number one seed in the conference tournament.
Gallentine racked up 42 assists,14 digs and four kills in a 3-1
win over Pitt-Bradford, then followed up with a 35 assist, ten dig
effort in a 3-0 victory at Penn State Altoona. For the week
Gallentine averaged 11.0 assists per game and 3.43 digs per
game.
The Behrend Lions have won the regular season championship and have
earned the right to host the AMCC Tournament as the #1 seed. The #1
and #2 seeds will receive byes for the conference tournament while
#4 vs. #5 and #3 vs. #6 will take place on Tuesday, November 4 in
first-round action. Semifinal matches will begin on Friday,
November 7 when the winner of the #4 Pitt-Bradford vs. #5 Penn
State Altoona match plays the #1 Behrend Lions at 6:00 p.m.
Following will be the second semifinal where by the winner of
the #3 Pitt-Greensburg vs. #6 Mt. Aloysius match will play #2 seed
Frostburg State at 8:00 p.m.
