ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's volleyball team clinched the No. 5 seed for the upcoming Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Tournament and will travel to No. 4 Pitt-Bradford for a first-round game on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
The Lions (18-11, 5-4 AMCC) have advanced to the AMCC Tournament every year since the inception of the conference in 1997. Behrend is looking to defend its AMCC crown with its second straight title and fourth overall for the program.
The Panthers defeated the Lions during the regular season, 3-2 (17-25, 25-17, 26-24, 21-25, 15-12). The other first-round game features No. 6 La Roche at No. 3 Medaille. The top-seeded Penn State Altoona will host the championship weekend, beginning on Saturday. Franciscan secured the second seed which guarantees a spot in the semifinals along with Altoona for the tournament.
The champion will earn the AMCC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
