GREENVILLE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's volleyball team posted a three-set non-conference win over Thiel to open the 2021 season on Wednesday night.

Final Score: Behrend 3, Thiel 0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-20)

Key Moments:

* The Lions posted double-digit kills as a team in each set, including 13 in the final 25-20 third set
* Hannah Phillips (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) and Brooke Joncas (Corry, PA/Corry) combined for 25 kills. Phillips led with 13 and Joncas added 12
* The setting duties split between Meg Goodsel (Corry, PA/Corry) and Dani Kosslow (Pittsburgh, PA/South Park). Goodsel dished out 16 assists to go with seven digs and Kosslow tallied 15 helpers and three service aces
* Behrend trailed late in the first set 19-18 and managed to win seven of the final nine points, behind two kills from Joncas for a 25-21 victory
* In the second set with an 11-all tie, the Lions scored eight straight points on Zollars serve to take a commanding lead and hold on for a 25-15 win for a 2-0 lead in the match
* Behrend never trailed in the third set and earned the final two points of the match on kills from Sarah Cole (Stoneboro, PA/Lakeview) and Keely Hering (North East, PA/North East)
