ALFRED, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's volleyball team remains undefeated to start the season, sweeping SUNY Canton and Alfred 3-0 on the second day of the Alfred Saxon Classic on Saturday.

Match One:
Final Score: Behrend 3, SUNY Canton (25-8, 25-12, 25-6)
Records: Penn State Behrend (3-0), SUNY Canton (0-2)

Match One:

* Behrend registered its third straight three-set victory
* The Lions held SUNY Canton to just nine kills and forced 19 errors
* Sara Novak and Dani Kosslow (Pittsburgh, PA/South Park) combined for 1 of the team's 26 service aces
* Novak and Kosslow registered six aces apiece
* Behrend posted six service aces in the first set to run away with a 25-8 win  
* Maddie Clapper (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg) led with eight service aces, serving up seven in a row in the second set to give the Lions 14-4 lead that would hold up
* The Lions never trailed in the third set, taking a commanding 20-5 lead and winning on a pair of aces and a kill from Kelli Hoffer (DuBois, PA/DuBois)

Final Score: Penn State Behrend 3, Alfred 0 (25-17, 25-12, 25-19)
Records: Penn State Behrend (4-0), Alfred (1-3)

Match Two:

* Kristin Reiland (Fairview, PA/Villa Maria) led with 11 kills on 17 attempts for a .588 attack percentage
* Defensively, Clapper tallied a team-best 12 digs and added two aces, and Cara Zollars (Pittsburgh, PA/Upper St. Clair) tallied 11 digs
* The Lions erased an early one-point deficit in the first set thanks to four kills to take an 8-4 lead and stay ahead for good
* With a 18-9 lead in the second set, Zollars served six straight points to get Behrend to set point at 24-9  and an attack error gave the Lions a 2-0 lead in the match
* Behrend tallied its largest lead of the final set at 23-16 after a kill from Hannah Phillips (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny)
* Reiland and Keely Hering (North East, PA/North East) each knocked down a kill to help the Lions win 25-19

* Behrend returns to action on Friday against John Carroll and Bluffton for the first two games of the PSB Invitational on Friday.  The first match is at 4 p.m.
