Reiland Named AMCC Player of the Year; Five Earn All-Conference

ERIE, Pa. – Senior middle hitter Kristin Reiland (Fairview, PA/Villa Maria Academy) was named the 2021 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Player of the Year and head coach Phil Pisano garnered Coach of the Year honors, highlighting the All-Conference awards announced on Wednesday.

Reiland, the 2019 Co-Player of the Year and 2021 Preseason Player of the Year, is earning the program's fourth straight and sixth overall Player of the Year accolades. Pisano, who guided the team to their sixth AMCC title and fifth NCAA Tournament appearance, has now been named Coach of the Year seven times in his 17 seasons with the Lions.

Reiland also landed on the All-AMCC first team along with graduate student libero Maddie Clapper (Hollidaysburg, PA/Hollidaysburg) and senior setter Dani Kosslow (Pittsburgh, PA/South Park). Junior middle hitter Sarah Cole (Stoneboro, PA/Lakeview) was named to the second team, while junior outside hitter Brooke Joncas (Corry, PA/Corry) was chosen to the third team.

Reiland is a three-time All-Conference selection, earning first-team honors and Player of the Year in 2019. She ranks second in the AMCC in kills (269), kills per set (3.24), and third in blocks per set (0.77).  Reiland is ranked seventh in NCAA Division III statistics in attack percentage at .414. She posted four double-doubles this season, registering a season-best 24 digs vs. Penn State Altoona and 18 kills at Allegheny. Reiland was named to the AMCC All-Tournament Team for registering 29 kills and 13 digs.

Clapper is receiving her second First Team All-AMCC accolades to cap her career. She ranks second in the AMCC in total digs with 372 and third in digs per set (4.43). Clapper registered double-digit digs in 19 of the 26 matches played this season. She recorded a season-best 30 digs against Grove City and served up a career-best eight aces against SUNY Canton.

Kosslow earned First-Team honors after being selected to the third team in 2019. Kosslow is tied for 14th among Division III statistics in service aces with 69 and has moved into third place on the all-time list with 195. She ranks second in the AMCC in assists with 702 and in service aces per set (0.82). Kosslow dished out a season-best 38 assists on two occasions. She also added 162 digs and 49 kills to go with 23 blocks this season.

Cole and Joncas were named to the Second and Third Team for their first post-season accolades, respectively. Cole leads the AMCC in blocks per set (0.80) and is fourth in hitting percentage (.300). Overall, she is first on the team with 66 blocks and is fifth in kills (128). Cole had a season-best 13 kills in a 3-1 win at La Roche. She tallied at least one block in all but three matches. Joncas is second on the team and sixth in the conference in kills with 189. She is fifth in conference games in service aces per set (0.86). Joncas has played in all but one match this season and had double-digit kills in eight. She has 80 digs, 40 aces and 35 blocks in 84 sets played.
