Men's Basketball Beats Hilbert in AMCC Opener

HAMBURG, N.Y. – The Penn State Behrend men's basketball team opened Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) play with an 83-62 victory over the Hilbert Hawks on Wednesday night. Three Lions ended the night with point totals in the double digits.  

Final Score: Penn State Behrend 83, Hilbert 62

Records: Penn State Behrend 4-2 (1-0 AMCC), Hilbert 4-4 (0-1 AMCC)

Key Moments:
* PJ Gourley (Butler, PA/Knoch) led all players in scoring with 20 points along with a team-high eight rebounds
* Kenny Fukon (Cranberry Twp., PA/Cardinal Wuerl North Catholic) extended his double-digit scoring streak to six games to start the year and is currently fourth in the AMCC in points per game (19.6)
* Tommy DiRienzo (Pittsburgh, PA/Bethel Park) collected 15 points, the third time he's done so this season while going 5-for-10 from the field
* The Lions led 40-35 at the half and took over in the second half, outscoring the Hawks 43-27 to close out the victory
* Behrend converted 17 points off Hilbert turnovers
* Matt Niland (Erie, PA/Fairview) led all players off the bench in scoring with eight points, having two buckets from three-point range
