Lions Finish Season at AARTFC Championship; Smith Takes Gold

CORTLAND, Ny. – The Penn State Behrend track & field team competed in day two of the All-Atlantic Region Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Thursday at SUNY Cortland. The women's team finished with a total score of 28 points, placing 10th while the men's team tallied 32 points taking 11th. 

Key Moments:

* Braeden Smith (Erie, PA/Seneca) took home the gold medal in the men's high jump event, jumping a height of 2.09m, the sixth best leap in Division III
* Matt Michael (Erie, PA/Iroquois) took home the bronze in the shot put with a toss of 15.01m followed by a 10th place finish in the discus
*  In the men's 200m, Kurt Eberhardt (Gibsonia, PA/Hampton) finished third with a time of 21.89 followed by Antonio Stello (Punxsutawney, PA/Punxsutawney in fifth (21.98)
* Eberhardt took the podium with a sixth place finish in the 100m, running a time of 11.05
* Jenna Shelton (Cabot, PA/Knoch) medaled in the women's 800m run with a time of 2:21.77 along with a ninth place finish in the 1,500m run (4:49.94) 
* The men's 4x100m relay team of Jack Georgetson (Aliquippa, PA/Hopewell), Stello, Nick Coleman (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin), and Eberhardt finished ninth with a time of 42.64
* Caroline Upham (Erie, PA/Iroquois) had a leap of 1.54m in the women's high jump, taking 10th place
* In the women's 4x800m, Hanna Drozynski (Stoneboro, PA/Lakeview), Courtney Sargent (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy), Savanna Carr (Franklin, PA/Franklin Area), and Shelton took seventh place
* Michael Cross (Fairview, PA/Fairview), Chris Drozynski (Stoneboro, PA/Lakeview), Colton Barger (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy), and Zachary Tingley (Stoneboro, PA/Lakeview) finished ninth in the men's 4x800m relay
