Behrend Men's Volleyball Competes in Non-Conference Tri-Match

ARLINGTON, Va. – The Penn State Behrend men's volleyball fell to Marymount (3-0) and Arcadia (3-1) in the season-opening tri-match on Saturday afternoon.  

Match One:
Score:
Marymount 3, Penn State Behrend 0 (25-20, 25-17, 25-21)
Records: Marymount (4-0), Penn State Behrend (0-1)

Key Moments:

* The Saints held a 41-26 in kills over three sets
* With a 21-20 lead in the first set, Marymount used a 4-0 run to secure an early lead 25-20
* The Saints never trailed in the second set and registered four services aces for a 25-17 win
* Evrin Harrell led with 13 kills for Marymount
* Cody Schnur (Butler, PA/Butler) hit .500 for the match with six kills on 10 attempts
* JP Goodsel (Corry, PA/Corry) led with seven kills, four digs and two blocks
* Setter Alex Jackson (Cochranton, PA/Cochranton) had a team-best 13 assists and Diego Ortiz (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Wesleyan Academy) recorded nine assists

Arcadia 3, Penn State Behrend 1 (19-25, 25-19, 25-19, 28-26)
Records: Penn State Behrend (0-2), Arcadia (1-0)

Key Moments:

* Behrend won the first set 25-19 behind three kills apiece from Logan Hering (North East, PA/North East) and Schnur
* Goodsel had a solo block in the final set point for a 1-0 lead in the match
* The Knights won three unanswered sets to claim their first win of the season
* The decisive fourth set had seven ties down the stretch, beginning at 20-all
* Arcadia had match point on two occasions before winning 28-26 on two Behrend errors
* Adrian Martinez (San Juan, Puerto Rico/Wesleyan Academy) posted a team-high 12 digs
* Schnur finished with 12 kills and Hering added 11
* Goodsel had double-digit digs with 10 to go along with seven kills
