Lydon Named to USTFCCCA All-Academic Team

ERIE, Pa. – Penn State Behrend men's cross country runner Denis Lydon (Plum, PA/Plum) was named to the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Men's All-Academic Team on Friday.

In addition, both the Behrend men's and women's cross country teams were given All-Academic distinction. The men's squad compiled a GPA of 3.23 while the women's team had a GPA of 3.18.

Lydon had a memorable season for the Lions, finishing first in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championship race and was named co-AMCC Runner of the Year. A three-time AMCC All-Academic selection, the 2013 season also marked the fourth time he was a member of the All-Conference team.

In all, the senior won two races and led Behrend to the AMCC team title and a spot in the NCAA Regional Championship.

For an athlete to qualify, he or she must compile a GPA of 3.30 or greater and finish in the top 25 percent of their respective regional championship.
