Lions Compete at Dickinson Invitational

CARLISLE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's cross country team finished seventh out of 36 teams with a team score of 266 at Dickinson College Saturday morning.

The Dickinson Invite consisted of a long/short competition. The Lions finished 18th in the 8k competiton with a team score of 177.

Behrend was led by Jacob Parsons (Titusville, PA/Maplewood) who ran an 8k time of 27:37.15, good for 44th place. Teammate Jake DeWeese (Freedom, PA/Freedom Area) finished 53rd with a time of 27:48.52.

Freshman Ian Griffith (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional) improved on his previous 8k time and finished with a time of 29:40.85. Cody Cornell (Conneaut Lake, PA/Conneaut Lake) and Aaron Peters (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) both ran well for Behrend posting times of 30:28.35 and 31:23. Cornell placed in 149th place and Peters finished in 172nd place.

The Lions finished sixth out of 35 teams in the 4k event with a team score of 87.

Dylan Buffington (Brookville, PA/Brookville) paced Behrend in the 4k event finishing 25th with a time of 12:38.89. Placing 26th was Devin Beggs (Franklin, PA/Franklin) who finished less than a second after teammate Buffington to finish with a time of 12:39.15.

The Lions travel to Carnegie Mellon Saturday October 11th with a start time of 11:00 am.
