Buffington Leads Lions To Sixth Consecutive AMCC Title

JOHNSTOWN, Pa - Dylan Buffington (Brookville, PA/Brookville) led the Penn State Behrend men's cross country team on Sunday en route to their sixth straight and 10th overall Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) title.

The Lions have been dominant this year and today proved to be no different. Their team score of 19 was 20 points better than second-place Franciscan (39). Pitt-Greensburg (100) edged D'Youville (135) for third place while La Roche finished fifth with a score of 144. Hilbert (159), Medaille (161) and Mount Aloysius (227) finished sixth, seventh, and eighth, respectively.

Behrend had eight runners finish in the Top 15 and six in the Top 10. Buffington, Jacob Parsons (Titusville, PA/Maplewood) and Ian Griffith (Murrysville, PA/Franklin regional) finished first, second, and third overall to help push the Lions to their sixth consecutive crown.

Buffington's time of 28:09.45 was 14 seconds faster than Parsons who finished in 28:24.17. Griffith crossed the finish in 28:48.20.

Aaron Peters (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf), Alex Kubala (Pittsburgh, PA/North Hills), and Jarrod Lipsey (Kersey, PA/St. Mary's Area) also finished in the top ten. Peters, who finished sixth, had a time of 29:45.57 while Kubala finished in 29:55.31, good enough for ninth place. Lipsey finished tenth with a time of 30:11.56.

Chris Drozynski (Stoneboro, PA/Lakeview) finished 12th and Michael Cross (Fairview, PA/Fairview) finished 14th to round out Behrend's top runners.

The Lions will travel to Center Valley, PA on November 12 for the Mid-East Regional Championships.
