Buffington Leads Lions at Westminster

NEW WINLIMINGTON, Pa- Dylan Buffington (Brookville, PA/Brookville) won the Fisher Invitational hosted by Westminster to lead the Penn State Behrend men's cross country team on Friday night.

The Lions placed second with a score of 46, falling shy of the team title by four points. Washington & Jefferson won the invitation earning a total of 42 points with Behrend in second and Franciscan took third (77). Buffington finished first overall with a stunning time of 25:28.28 to start his senior year off on the right foot.

Zach Wortman (St. Mary's, PA/Elk County Catholic) concluded the race behind Buffington, placing ninth overall with a time of 26:46.81. Jake Lehotsky (Erie, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) finished 11th, Alex Kubala (Pittsburgh, PA/ North Hills) came in 12th, and Chris Drozynski (Stoneboro, PA/Lakeview) tallied 13th to round out the Top 15 for the Lions with times of 27:07.15, 27:10.80, and 27:14.50, respectively.

In addition, Ian Griffith (Murrysville, PA/ Franklin Regional) crossed the line in 27:16.63 for 16th place, while Timothy Wheeler (Albion, PA/ Northwestern) earned 25th overall with time of 27:48.26, correspondingly.

Behrend will be back in action on Friday, September 15th for the Behrend Invitational beginning at 5:30 p.m.
