Klein and Cooper Headline All-Conference Awards, Nine Named All-AMCC

ERIE, Pa. – The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) office released its end of season awards on Thursday for men's cross country with 10 different members from Penn State Behrend being honored.

Headlining the release, freshman Kody Klein (North East, PA/Cathedral Prep) was tabbed as the AMCC Newcomer of the Year following a fifth-place finish at the AMCC Championship. Klein began his freshman campaign with an 11th place finish and concluded with the top freshman finish in the final conference event. He was a key contributor to Behrend's scoring in each of his five races this season and was not beaten by another AMCC freshman.

Joining Klein on the All-Conference team were eight teammates including second-place finisher in the AMCC Championship, Phoenix Myers. Myers finished just 22 seconds behind the individual winner to earn his third All-Conference selection. Aidan Dominic (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) also claims his third All-Conference nomination of his career finishing right behind Myers along with Chris Annear (Fredonia, NY/Fredonia), rounding out the AMCC top five for his second All-Conference team accolades.

Nick Temel (Conneaut Lake, PA/Conneaut Area) completed championship weekend with a sixth-place finish, resulting in his third straight All-Conference nomination and the quartet of Joey George (Leechburg, PA/Kiski), Bennett Kerr (Murrysville, PA/Franklin Regional), Daniel Fisher (Venus, PA/Cranberry) and Emil George (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunswick) were selected to their first All-Conference Team.

Finishing the barrage of accolades is head coach Greg Cooper. He was named the AMCC Coach of the Year for mentoring two thirds of the All-Conference runners nearly sweeping the conference awards. Behrend won their second straight AMCC Title and 13th overall and Cooper won his 17th Coach of the Year award.
