Gruber Named AMCC Softball Player of the Week

ERIE, Pa. – Ashley Gruber, a senior on the Penn State Behrend softball team, has been named the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Player of the Week.

Gruber, the starting third baseman, helped the Lions earn five conference games to finish with a 6-2 record on the week. She started off the week going 3-for-3 with five RBIs and a home run in an 11-0 win over Franciscan, before her 5-for-7 performance in the sweep of Mt. Aloysius.

Gruber smacked to more long balls, including a three-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning to tie the game at 5-all and force extra innings.

She currently leads the team with a .393 batting average, 31 RBIs, 22 hits, 16 runs, six doubles and five home runs.

Behrend returns to action tomorrow at Pitt-Bradford. The AMCC doubleheader begins at 3 p.m.
