Eight Softball Players Land on All-AMCC Team

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend softball team had eight players named to the 2023 All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Team, announced on Tuesday.

Cami McNany (Emlenton, PA/Allegheny-Clarion Valley) was named to the first team, while Kayla Lindberg (Austinburg, OH/Geneva), Abby Tingley (Union City, PA/Union City), Jocelyn McNany (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley), Emi Curcio (Perryopolis, PA/Frazier), Meghan Petitte (Sugarcreek, OH/Garaway) and Sierra Williams (Grove City, PA/Lakeview) were selected to the second team. Maddie Smith (DuBois, PA/DuBois) landed on the third team.

McNany, the 2023 Preseason Player of the Year, was named to the first team at the designated player position. This is her third All-Conference honor over her four years. The senior played in eight conference games and registered five hits, five RBIs with a double. Overall, McNany has 24 hits, 18 RBIs and two home runs. She also recorded her 100th career hit with a single in the top of the seventh inning in a 15-14 win over Alfred.

Lindberg was a second-team choice after being named to the third team her first two years. The junior was voted the 2023 AMCC Preseason Pitcher of the Year. Lindberg boasted a 1.88 ERA in AMCC contests and 2.09 overall. She tallied a 5-2 record in conference, throwing five complete games and only allowing 10 earned runs and walking eight. Overall, she ranks second in wins with 10 and is fifth with 62 strikeouts for the season.

Along with Lindberg, Tingley landed on the second team in the pitcher position. The freshman ranked third in the AMCC with 10 wins and is fifth with a 3.15 ERA. In conference games, Tingley ranked second in ERA at 1.71 and sixth in strikeouts (28). She pitched 45 innings in AMCC play for a 7-0 record. Tingley finished her first season with a 10-6 overall record with one save, including 68 strikeouts.

J. McNany is earning her second All-AMCC honor at first base. The sophomore ranked fourth in the AMCC in on-base and slugging percentage. She was second in triples, sixth in walks and total bases, seventh in RBIs and ninth in total hits. Overall, J.McNany led the team in hits (45), RBIs (32) and doubles (14).

Petitte was selected to second team at shortstop. The freshman ranked second in RBIs and third in runs scored in 14 conference games. She ranked ninth in on-base percentage and hit .389. Overall, Petitte led the team in runs scored (31) and was second in RBIs (24) and doubles (8).

Curcio is receiving her first All-Conference honor. She ranked fifth on the team in hits (29) and is fourth with 20 RBIs. In conference play, she had 10 hits, 11 RBIs and two doubles. Curcio hit .345 in the 13 AMCC contests. She also tied for second on the team with eight doubles.

Williams, the starting center fielder, earned second-team honors for her first postseason accolade. The sophomore ranked second in conference games with two home runs and was eighth in triples (2). Williams hit .415 in conference games and posted a .349 percentage this season. She tallied 17 hits in 14 AMCC contests, driving in 11 runs. Overall, Williams ranked second on the team with 38 hits and is third with 22 RBIs. She had a team-best six home runs and scored 24 runs.

Smith earned her first All-Conference honors on the third team. The senior was perfect in AMCC play in the outfield with 16 putouts and no errors. She had 11 hits, six RBIs while scoring 14 runs with four doubles in 14 conference contests. Overall, Smith finished fourth on the team with 31 hits and tied for fifth in RBIs (18).
