Lions Fall on Opening Day of Herb Lauffer Tournament

ERIE, Pa. - Heather Keller scored two goals for Baldwin Wallace in a 3-2 win over Penn State Behrend in the opening round of the Herb Lauffer Memorial Championship on Saturday afternoon.

Keller's pair of goals came in a string of three consecutive by the Yellow Jackets (1-0) to take a 3-1 lead early in the second half. Baldwin Wallace held on for the season-opening victory by a one-goal margin.

Freshmen Alex Bilka (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) and Leah Morra (Pittsburgh, PA/North Hills) led the Lions (0-1), each registering their first-collegiate goals.

It seemed Behrend was ready to make a statement with Bilka's goal just 1:02 after the opening whistle. Sam Vasy (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) played a pass into the middle and onto Bilka's feet for a long shot past Emily Tallmadge for a 1-0 lead.

Keller, who came off the bench, headed her first goal in in the 25th minute and added another along with Kayla Losco just five minutes apart in the second half.

Morra cut the deficit by one with 4:25 remaining in the game off a pass from Bilka. Morra gathered the ball off Bilka's cross and Tallmadge's hands in a scramble to make it, 3-2, but the Lions could find the equalizer in the final minutes.

Behrend's goalie Taylor Troyan (Butler, PA/Butler) made five saves on 14 shots.

The Lions return to action tomorrow against Capital at 12 p.m.
