Lions Claim 10th AMCC Championship; Horn Earns Highest-Point Winner

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's swimming and diving team won their 10th Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championship on Saturday night, with a four-day total of 570.5 points to edge out Cabrini.

The Lions never trailed to capture their third straight title and 10th overall for the program with three first-place finishes in the finals tonight. Cabrini was second with 494.5 points, while Alfred State came in third (376) and Franciscan was fourth (282).

Maryn Horn (Houston, TX/Jersey Village) added two victories on the night to conclude the meet as the highest –point winner. She set a new pool record in the 100 freestyle with a time of 53.25 for gold and then was a part of the winning 400 freestyle relay.

Jessica Wyckoff (Elma, NY/Iroquois) was nearly two seconds behind Horn in the 100 freestyle for third place (55.44) and Claire Mallick (Pittsburgh, PA/Woodland Hills) came in sixth (58.21).

Gwendolyn Lowery (Bellefonte, PA/Bellefonte), Abigail Witmer (Herndon, PA/Herndon), Wyckoff and Horn swam a relay time of 3:40.36 to set a new AMCC meet, AMCC open and team record for the final event of the meet.

Anna Rose Watterson (Baldwin, PA/Seton-La Salle) repeated as 1650 freestyle champion. She posted a time of 19:18.94 for first place and Lacey Grinnen (Warren, PA/Warren) followed in second with a time of 19:35.43.

In the 200 breaststroke, Kristin Owens (Erie, PA/McDowell) fell short of defending her title taking second overall with a time of 2:37.94 to lead Behrend.

Witmer and Allie Schneider (Erie, PA/McDowell) earned points in the 200 backstroke, placing third and fifth, respectively. Witmer led with a time of 2:15.05 for third and Schneider clocked in at 2:19.96 for fifth.
