Women's Tennis Defeats Franciscan, 8-1

ERIE, Pa. – For the second day in a row, the Penn State Behrend women's tennis team defeated an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) opponent by a score of 8-1. Today the victim was the Franciscan Barons.

The Lions (2-0, 2-0 AMCC) started the match with three doubles victories. Arica Christman (Sharon, PA/Sharon) and Stephanie Cattron (Greenville, PA/Commodore Perry) did not lose a set in an 8-0 victory, while Leslie Durante (Fairview, PA/Fairview) and Allison Quigley (Gibsonia, PA/Hampton) easily posted an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles. Jade Buhite (Ashtabula, OH/Edgewood) and Reesie Schepis (Moon Township, PA/Moon) tallied the No. 3 victory, 8-5.

Behrend won first five flights in singles. Christman recorded a 6-1, 6-1 win over Marylou Kiley at the No. 1 spot. Cattron, Durante, Quigley, and Harris all won their singles matches with two-set decisions.

The Lions return to action on Wednesday at Fredonia St. for a non-conference match, beginning at 4 p.m.
