Behrend Women's Track & Field Finishes Fourth at Mason Dixon Conference Championships

The Penn State Behrend track & field teams competed at the Mason Dixon Conference Championships April 30 and May 1 at Salisbury University.  The women finished fourth, and the men fifth, with many Behrend athletes earning all-conference status.  All athletes finishing sixth place or better in the finals of an event are considered all-conference performers.  The Behrend women's team totaled 65 points.

The Behrend women's throwers helped Behrend pick up key points in the meet. Katie Monoskey (Punxsutawney/Punxsutawney) finished second in the discus (117' 3") and third in the hammer throw (132' 5") to rack up 14 points for the blue and white.  Katie White (Warren/Warren) was second in the javelin with a throw of 107' 8" to pick up eight points.

Standout freshman Victoria Harwood (Fair Haven/Rumson-Fair Haven) tied a Behrend record by clearing 10' in the pole vault, earning a second place finish, and picking up eight points.  The Behrend women had three all-conference performers in the event as Kylie Swanson (Hermitage/Hickory) was third and Angela Sweeney (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Memorial) finished fifth.  Jenna Fatica (Erie/Villa Maria) earned six points with a third place finish (2:22.44) in the 800 meter run.

Meghan Kronenwetter (St. Marys/Elk County Catholic) was fourth in the 1500 meter run with a time of 5:04.40, good for four points, while Mandy Wehrle (Rossiter/Punxsutawney) also grabbed four points with a fourth place finish in the 200 meter dash (27.28 seconds).

Others earning all-conference status were Tanisha Wheatley (Saltsburg/Kiski) in the 3000 meter steeplechase (fifth) and Lauren Pecor (Mars/Mars) in the 10,000 meter run (sixth).  In addition the women's 4x400 meter relay team of Harwood, Kronenwetter, Fatica, and Wehrle was third, while the 4x100 meter relay team of Harwood, Wehrle, Dana Turley (Sarver/Freeport), and Lexy Weissinger (Erie/McDowell) was fourth.

The Behrend women next compete May 20 at the SUNY Oneonta Invitational.
