Penn State Altoona Sweeps Lions

ERIE, Pa. – Kelly Bristol tallied a game-high 18 kills and 12 digs to lead Penn State Altoona past Penn State Behrend 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-21) in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Saturday afternoon in the Junker Center.

Bristol recorded six kills in each set to help the Altoona Lions (5-10, 3-1 AMCC) pick up their third conference win while handing the Behrend Lions (8-8, 0-2 AMCC) their second straight AMCC loss.

Meredith Snyder (Parker, PA/Allegheny-Clarion Valley) had team highs with 21 digs, eight kills and six blocks. Hannah Saunders (Elizabeth, PA/Elizabeth Forward) posted a double-double with 18 assists and 10 digs.

Bristol registered a third of Altoona's kills in the first set. She knocked down six of the 18 to help the Lions rally back from a five-point deficit to take the first set 25-23. Josie Stovall also added six kills in the first set for a 1-0 lead in the match.

Altoona never trailed in the next two sets. Behrend cut the lead to two points at 18-16, but the Lions got four kills from Bristol in their next seven points to remain out front for a 25-20 victory.

The Altoona Lions did not back down in the third set and recorded 17 kills, behind six from Bristol and six from Logan Reedy. Snyder led Behrend in the final set with 11 digs and four kills.

Behrend returns to action on Tuesday at Hilbert. Match begins at 7 p.m.
