Q & A With Behrend Lions Golf Coach James Bowen

What are your thoughts on your team at this point in your fall season?

At this point I am a little disappointed that we have only won one invitational, taken second in one, finished fifth in our invitational at Peak-N'-Peek, and finished sixteenth in Allegheny's invitational. I thought the team would be doing better at this point.

Who is performing particularly well for the team right now?

I am getting good scores out of my top freshman recruit Kevin Koerbel. He has shot in the 70's in all but two of the events he has played in.

How does the conference look this season?

We are doing well against conference teams. The only league team that has beaten us in all the invitationals we have played in is Altoona.

What is the biggest challenge facing your team entering the second half of the regular season?

Our biggest challenge is realizing that we can beat Altoona. They are a good team with several solid players, but we have experience on our side. We can beat them. It is also going to be a challenge deciding who will represent Penn State Behrend at the conference championships. I have seven or eight players who are all pretty evenly matched.

What are your expectations for the end of the season and championships?

I am looking forward to the AMCC Conference championships this weekend at Tom's Run. I think that we will do well and we do have a real good chance of winning the conference.
