Walker and Meehl Selected to the NSCAA All-Great Lakes Region Teams

Penn State Behrend senior Dustin Walker (Apollo/Kiski) and sophomore Aaron Meehl (North East/North East) were recently selected to the 2009 NSCAA All-Great Lakes Region Teams.  Walker was named to the First Team as a goalkeeper and Meehl was named as a midfielder to the Third Team.

Walker has had a stellar career as the Behrend net minder.  The 2009 season might have been the best yet for Walker as he led his team to the ECAC South title, where he was the tournament's Most Outstanding Player, as well as set many Behrend records including all-time goals against average and total shutouts.  Walker was the backbone of the Behrend defense all year long.  He was named AMCC goalkeeper of the week three times and was named to the AMCC First Team for the third straight season.  He was also named to the ECAC All-Star First Team.

Meehl performed great at the midfield position all year long for Coach Perritano.  Only a sophomore, Meehl was tied for second on the team in goals scored with eight and recorded a total of 18 points in the process.  Meehl put in a great performance in the ECAC title game against Wesley in which he scored a goal and had an assist on the other.

"These awards cap off a great 2009 season for Dustin and Aaron," said Coach Perritano.  "Dustin has had an outstanding career at Behrend and this is just another great honor for him."  Coach Perritano went on to say, "Aaron is a young player who had a tremendous season for us this year and are looking forward to many more."

The Behrend Lions finished the season with an 18-5-2 overall record and ended the 2009 season on a three game win streak including the ECAC South Championship.
