Men's Soccer Sees Five All-Conference Selections

The Penn State Behrend men's soccer team saw five of its players get selected to the AMCC All-Conference teams.  Senior goalkeeper Dustin Walker (Apollo/Kiski) was selected to the first team for the third straight year while Jerry Tortella (Pittsburgh/Thomas Jefferson), Aaron Meehl (North East/North East) and Kyle McKinney (Chesterland/West Geauga) all received second team All-AMCC honors.  Rounding out the selections were juniors Josh Teti (McKeesport/Elizabeth Forward) and Lance Sabol (North Huntingdon/Norwin) who received honorable mention selections.

Walker has been solid in goal all year with a goals against average of 0.66 and recorded 71 saves.  Tortella, coming back off of a knee injury that cost him all of last season, came back with a tremendous season.  He has recorded six goals and racked up 17 points as well as being a strong leader for the blue and white.  Sophomores Meehl and McKinney have come up big for the Behrend Lions all year long.  Meehl has recorded seven goals and McKinney has started in every game this year and has been the backbone of the defense.

Sabol and Teti have played well all year long for Coach Perritano.  Sabol leads the Behrend Lions in goals with 11 and total points with 22.  Teti has recorded four goals and four assists and both these players have started in every game.

The Behrend Lions (16-5-2) earned the top seed in the ECAC South Region Tournament and won their quarterfinal match against Neumann University by a score of 2-1.  The blue and white will be the host this weekend as four teams come to town to see who will be crowned champion.  Behrend will take on Lebanon Valley on Saturday, November 14 at 1:30 p.m.  Wesley College and Stevenson University will battle at 11:00 a.m.  Winners of both games will meet Sunday, November 15 at 12:00 p.m. at Gannon University.
