Men's Soccer Beats John Carroll; Perritano Moves Closer to Milestone

ERIE, Pa - The Penn State Behrend men's soccer collected a great win Wednesday night, beating a tough John Carroll squad, 1-0.

The Lions (3-1-2) and Blue Streaks (2-2-1) battled through an even-matched first half. Although neither team scored, both had very good opportunities. Just over a minute into the match, Matt Dziadosz (Leechburg, PA/Kiski Area) delivered a beautiful shot that JCU goalkeeper Liam McIntosh dove in front of to keep Behrend off the board.

In the 15th minute, senior forward Anthony Crivelli (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) looked to strike first for the Lions, putting a shot on net that was again stopped by McIntosh. Behrend finished the half outshooting the Blue Streaks, 6-3

After the scoreless first half, the Lions were coming out looking to score early and in the 53rd minute they were rewarded. Sean Gallagher (Bethel Park, PA/Bethel Park) set up the goal by crossing to Crivelli in front of the net. McIntosh pushed away the first attempt from Crivelli, setting up a reboud for Dziadosz, who found the back of the net, giving Behrend the 1-0 lead.

The Lions defense finished the game strong, only allowing JCU to register one shot on net the whole contest.

With that win, head coach Dan Perritano is now only one win away from reaching 400 career victories and 11 wins away from 300 victories with the men's program.

Behrend will be back in action on Saturday when they travel to Allegheny College to take on the Gators. Game time is set for 7:30 p.m.
