ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's swimming and diving team fell to cross-town rival Gannon 146-134 on Tuesday evening in non-conference action.

Dan Simon (Harrison City, PA/Penn Trafford) and Javier Solivan (San Juan, Puerto Rico/UHS) each won two individual events to lead the Lions.

Simon continued to have an excellent season, winning the 50 yard backstroke in 24.10.  Simon excelled in the 100 yard backstroke as well.  He finished in 53.43 with Clay Altemose (Apollo, PA/Apollo-Ridge) right behind in second place at 54.49.  Altemose was also an individual winner, taking first in the 100 yard butterfly at 52.84.

Solivan won the 200 yard freestyle after finishing in 1:47.46.  He also won the 100 yard freestyle by over a full second with a time of 48.26. 

In the 50 yard breaststroke, Justin Pritchard (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley) placed second at 28.62.  Pritchard and Hunter Backenstose (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown East) finished second and third in the 50 yard freestyle with times of 22.42 and 22.93 respectively.  

In the final event of the meet, Simon and Solivan teamed up with Backenstose and Dan Safford (Pottstown, PA/Pottsgrove) to win the 200 yard freestyle relay.

Behrend will be back in the water on November 30th at the Fredonia Blue Devil Invite.   Start time for day one is set for 4 p.m.
