Two Qualify for ECAC's in Geneva

GENEVA, Ohio – The Penn State Behrend women's track and field team competed at the SPIRE open halfway between Erie and Cleveland in Geneva, Ohio on Saturday afternoon.

Paige Allen (Butler, PA/Butler) came in second in the 60 meter dash finals with a time of 7.98 seconds. Allen also netted an 11th place finish (out of 73) in the 200m dash with a time of 27.00 seconds. Both are Penn State Behrend indoor records, and Allen's number in the 60 dash will qualify her for ECAC's.

Katie Spade (Warren, PA/Warren) won her 400 meter heat – and finished second in the finals with a time of 59.10. That number also qualifies for ECAC's.

In the 800 meter run, Jamie Szramowski (Pittsburgh, PA/Oakland Catholic) carded a third place finish in her heat and followed it up with a time of 2:30.59 in the finals. That was good for 15th place.

The Lions' team of Allen, Spade, Abby Gilmore (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf), and Franki Disalvo (Erie, PA/McDowell) finished first in their 4X400 relay prelim and fourth overall with a time of 4:16.61.

In the weight throw, April McDermott went a distance of 11.25m for 18th place.

The Lions will next travel to Cornell on January 31.
