DeEtte Bacon Hering was a powerful volleyball player at Penn State Behrend for three consecutive seasons for head coach Jan Wilson.  This Fort LeBouf High School product concluded her banner season in 1982 with 346 kills, still the second  most kills in a season for a Penn State Behrend player.

For her prowess, Hering garnered first team District 18 All-Star status in 1981 and 1982.  She was named to the Women's Keystone Conference All-Star squad in 1982.  She finished her career with 648 kills, fourth best on the all-time charts. 

Hering always "served" her team well.  In 1982, Hering earned 77 serving aces, and her team went on to win 22 matches.  This is the second most serving aces in a single season.  Hering ended her career with 130 serving aces, fifth on the career charts.

Hering is now a home health care attendant for Parke V. Phillips in Waterford.
