Diane Metzgar Doane was an outstanding basketball player at Villa Maria High School and at Penn State Behrend.  As the starting point guard in 1981-82, her passing led the team to the NAIA District 18 Women's Basketball Championship.  Doane went on to dish out over three hundred assists in three seasons, which still ranks second on the all-time charts.

Doane was much more than a passer, she also put the ball in the hoop.  She still holds the record for the most points scored in a single game with 33.  In addition, her career scoring average of 13.1 points per game ranks fourth in the all-time records.

A three-year starter, she was named to the District 18 All-Star squad in each of her seasons.  Doane also holds the number two spot in three other offensive categories.  She earned 210 career steals, carried a career free-throw percentage of 75, and distributed eleven assists in a game, second best in a single game.

Doane, a former teacher, is at home in Pittsburgh raising her two daughters.
