Duane May came to Penn State Behrend from Harbor Creek High School, where he had been an outstanding athlete.  At Behrend, he immediately impressed basketball coach Roger Sweeting with his work ethic and conditioning.  As a freshman, he had a single game high of 38 points.

As a sophomore, May was a starting forward and co-captain of the 1968-69 team that finished the season undefeated at 20-0, still the only undefeated basketball team in the College's forty-plus seasons of varsity competition.  That year he averaged over 15 PPG in a very balanced attack, and was also among the rebounding leaders with over 11 per game.  His career scoring average, 17.4 PPG, still ranks him ninth among career leaders.

Additionally, May was a gifted golfer.  He earned two varsity letters while both teams had solid winning records.  May also earned the White Letter Award as most valuable team member for his contributions.

May completed his undergraduate education at the University of Texas where he earned a five-year degree in Pharmacy.  He is now a registered pharmacist in Houston.
