Gary Zang is a 1983 graduate of Sun Valley High School in Aston, Pennsylvania, and was an impact player for the Behrend Lions in his two seasons on the hardwood. 

Zang served as team captain for hall of famer Doug Zimmerman. In his first season for the Behrend Lions he blocked 44 shots, and was named team MVP after he averaged 17 ppg and 7 rpg during his second year. In 1986-87 he scored 432 points. Zang was named the James Frye Male Athlete of the Year in 1986-87. 

For his career he scored 739 points, averaging 15.0 ppg. Zang averaged 6.9 rpg in his career (12th), had 78 career blocks (3rd), 107 steals in his career (8th), and earned 58 steals in the 1987-88 season (4th). Throughout his career Zang shot the ball very well making 52% of his field goals attempts in his career, and hitting 76% of his shots from the charity-stripe. 

Zang graduated from Penn State Behrend in 1988. He is married, has three children, and is owner and president of D.G.S. Landscaping.
