2004 Women's Tennis

The Penn State Behrend women’s tennis team had a sensational 2004 season, featuring six players with double-digit wins in singles and doubles play. The Lions won eight straight matches to end the regular season, before capturing the AMCC Tournament Championship with an impressive 14-3 overall record and a perfect 6-0 AMCC mark. 
 
Behrend swept the singles competition at the AMCC Tournament. Allison Mudrey was champion at No. 1 singles, while Mindy Calvert claimed the second singles championship and Katie Ranalli was the third singles winner. Christie Leininger won at fourth singles and Jenna Yankowski was victorious in the fifth spot. Shelley Goodpastor completed the sweep with the No. 6 singles championship. All six earned AMCC first-team honors. 
 
Ranalli and Goodpastor teamed up to win the No. 2 doubles title. Yankowski and Leininger became doubles champions at the third spot.
 
The Lions capped the season, earning every AMCC Award beginning with Jeff Barger as Coach of the Year. Katie Ranalli was named Newcomer of the Year, followed by Allison Mudrey with Player of the Year honors.
