Ronson Mazany was a four-event track and field athlete for Penn State Behrend from 2007-11. He set three school records – the indoor triple jump, outdoor and indoor long jumps. Mazany was a four-time All-Conference selection in the long jump, triple jump and high jump while earning All-Mason Dixon honors three times in the javelin. Mazany was an ECAC Qualifier and an All-ECAC choice, and provisionally qualified for the NCAA Championships.

Mazany defined rise and grind before it became a popular Instagram hashtag. His hard work combined with his talent laid the foundation for the NCAA qualifiers and All-Americans who followed him.

Each season he set a new Behrend record, starting with the indoor triple jump (44’8”) in 2009. The next year it was the outdoor long jump (23’.075”). In his senior year, he broke the indoor long jump with a mark of 23’0.5”.

Mazany was always willing to do more for the team and was instrumental in the improvement of the program over his four years. He was selfless and never complained, unless the team ran out of food. Then, he complained until he was fed.

He made an impact from day one and grew into an admired leader by the time he graduated.

In his senior year, Mazany was ranked 18th in the nation in the indoor long jump. He earned Team MVP four seasons in a row and helped the Lions post their highest finish at the Mason Dixon Championships in 2010. The team improved again in 2011, finishing in the runner-up spot.

Mazany still holds the indoor triple jump record, and both the indoor and outdoor long jump records. He is second in the outdoor triple jump and third in the decathlon all-time.
