Case Outscores Behrend 4-2 in a Match Between Regionally Ranked Teams

Clevland, OH – The Penn State Behrend men’s soccer team battled regionally ranked Case Western Reserve to a 4-2 loss Wednesday.

The men entered the match looking to improve on their 7th place Great Lakes region standing but lost hope early as Ross Twanmoh on a ball sent from Eric Erb in the 13th minute, scored to give the Spartans (6-2-3) a one-nil lead.

The Lions (6-2-3) would strike back by an awarded penalty kick taken by Joshua Teti who evened the score with 20:58 on the clock. Case Western’s back-to-back goals by Niro Wimalasena, who tallied on a looping ball over the defense and Vinny Bell’s goal from a Mikey Schmid cross, left Behrend down 3-1 going into halftime.

Jake Gamble’s rebounded shot in the 63rd minute to put the men down one, gave Behrend life but it was quickly taken away by Jordan Fox, scoring off a deflected free kick to give the Spartans a 4-2 edge and the go ahead victory.

The Lions will return to action on October 9 to battle Franciscan in conference play, the match is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
